December 1, 2015 is ROC THE DAY
Many of us realize during this time of year how thankful we are for all that we have, including the roof over our heads and great friends, peers and loved ones who support us. There are also many people who are struggling to find a home and any support that gives them dignity. Growing numbers of individuals and families struggle to find safe, affordable housing throughout the year — the need for housing far outweighs availability. Providence Housing Development Corporation recently helped two families find a home, just in time for the holidays, but they need your help covering the cost of a new roof that made this possible.
Providence Housing is participating in ROC the Day, the Rochester community’s 24-hour, online giving event that provides donors an opportunity to support not-for-profit organizations doing great work in the greater Rochester area. Money donated to Providence Housing will help pay for a roof that was recently installed on one of their two-family properties in the city of Rochester.
Providence was able to finance the roof allowing two new families to have a home, but they are looking to attain funds to cover the cost of the roof, allowing them to focus on development and support services for their residents. For more information on becoming a ROCstar and to donate on December 1st, visit www.ROCtheDay.org/ProvidenceHousingDevelopmentCorporation or call 1-800-242-0238.
The following challenge grants have been set up for ROC the Day:
1) $200 will be donated to PHDC after the first $200 has been donated.
2) Mark Greisberger, Executive Director, will personally donate $200 for the next $200 donated to PHDC.
3) Daniel Saperstone, of The Cabot Group, is a board member donating up to $200 to match contributions made by his co-workers, friends and peers. In order to track donations for Dan, please comment on the PHDC LinkedIn page with the amount donated and “The Cabot Group” or e-mail PHDC’s marketing director privately at firstname.lastname@example.org.
